Gaiffe Brun is a distinguished champagne house located in Avenay-Val-d'Or, a village in the Marne Valley known for its Premier Cru designation. With a rich heritage spanning four generations, the estate is a testament to the family's deep-rooted passion for viticulture. The current steward, David Hentzien, continues the legacy initiated by his father-in-law, Gérard Gaiffe, focusing on organic and biodynamic practices that respect the unique terroir of the region. Since 2015, the house has been certified organic and Demeter, reflecting a commitment to sustainable farming. The vines are cultivated with minimal intervention, allowing them to thrive in the limestone and clay-limestone soils that define the area. Each bottle of Gaiffe Brun champagne is crafted with care, employing traditional methods such as manual riddling and natural aging in oak barrels. Notably, all cuvées are produced as Brut Zéro, emphasizing the purity of the grapes without added sugar. The innovative practice of playing classical music in the cellar during maturation further enhances the character and complexity of their wines, making Gaiffe Brun a remarkable ambassador for biodynamic champagne.
